25th June 2015 – Seven new Freemen welcomed at The Mansion House

It has been a great honour for me to be welcomed in to the Guild and at such an incredible venue! It was a fantastic to explore Mansion house as an Event Manager… So many ideas came to mind, but I doubt I would ever be able to explore them.

With the kind permission of The RT. Hon The Lord Mayor, The Guild was granted the very special permission to hold a White Tie banquet at this historic building, the incumbent Lord Mayor’s home for his year of office.

Grace was offered by The Guild Chaplain, Rev. Bertrand Olivier. The Lord Mayor was represented by Foundation Master, Alderman Sir Paul Judge who delighted the 70 guests with a warm, witty and informative introduction to our guest speaker, Founder Freeman Sir Rod Aldridge, OBE, FRSA. Sir Rod explained his own entrepreneurial journey and the role of education which he spearheads through The Aldridge Foundation. He thanked The Guild’s Fellowship Team for its enthusiastic, practical support in helping him and his team in its quest to establish a centre for entrepreneurship for 14-19 year olds in London – a challenge which he has laid down for The City Corporation, The Guild and other stakeholders, to help make it reality in 2016.

The banquet was preceded by a ceremonial court at which myself and six other freemen were admitted and the evening concluded with the Master’s hospitality of a Stirrup Cup. The perfect start and finish to an evening at this wonderful venue.

The seven new Freemen were (in alphabetical order):

  • Leslie Blustin
  • Nathaniel Burke
  • Mandy Haberman
  • Elizabeth Hunt
  • Thomas Simmonds – Me 🙂
  • Patrick Swint
